The galaxy is in flames. The Emperor's glorious vision for humanity is in ruins. His favoured son, Horus, has turned from his father's light and embraced Chaos.
​
His armies, the mighty and redoubtable Space Marines, are locked in a horrendous civil war. Once, these ultimate warriors fought side by side as brothers, protecting the galaxy and bringing mankind back into the Emperor's light. Now they are divided.
​
One such battle of this brutal civil war takes place far from the spotlight, deep into the Segmentum Obscura and the planet of Rynd's World. Despite its location it is a system of vital importance to both Traitor and Loyalist, not for its production of armaments or soldiery, but as one of the largest meat production centres in the Imperium. Almost the entire surface of the planet is covered in grazing lands, slaughter houses and export facilities for billions of Grox, whose meat sates the voracious appetites of the Emperor's armies.

Horus, ever the master strategist, knows that to hold this world means to deprive his father's forces of sustenance, while at the same time helping to provide all of the proteins and calorific intake his own armies will require. Equal to his brother's tactical acumen, Dorn has realised Horus's gambit and has sent multiple Legions to defend Rynd's World. His other concern; that loss of supply might also mean the support of Space Wolf Legion may waver, as Horus cunningly waves steaks of the succulent red meats under his brother Russ's nose, in a bid to attract his support.
Both sides understand that control of the world could lead to ultimate victory. The many Grox contently munch on grass, unaware of the violence about to erupt around them, their large bovine heads turning to stare up at the stars as the first drop pods and landing craft begin their descent.
